What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, a strategy focused on improving your ranking on search engines. In practice, this means increasing both the quantity and quality of traffic to your website from organic search results.

How does it work?

The first thing to keep in mind when thinking about ranking highly on Google is that there is no person at Google going through every website determining what should rank where. There are billions of websites globally and Google has limited resources. Instead, Google relies on complex algorithms and crawler bots to analyze websites to evaluate their quality and rank on any given topic. When writing and focusing on SEO, we are focusing not on a person but on what Google looks for in a high-quality site. Things such as EAT, which stands for expertise authority and trustworthiness, page speed, page size, keywords, backlinks, content, and a variety of other factors. 

Why does it matter?

In today’s hyper-connected and digital age, if people can’t easily find you on a search engine, then you basically don’t exist. SEO is the most important tool in the digital marketer’s arsenal.
